My name is Satrio Muhammad Senoaji, I was born in Jakarta 27 December 1999, from the Faculty of Economics State University of Jakarta, and from Management Program 2017.
This blog I created to fulfill the task of MPA Management entitled "Contribution for Management"
Do you know what is "Mahasiswa" or in english "College Student"? What it's purpose for the country?
First thing first, Mahasiswa come from two words, "Maha" which means great; very and the "Siswa" are the disciples; protege. Mahasiswa or College Students are the highest level of students. Another notion of a student is a call to a person who is currently studying at a university or college. It is in this university or college that a student learns to sharpen his brain, think, solve problems without problems, learn to be independent, patient, tolerant, sincere, and train the skills he possesses without feeling bored and tired to become a true man.
Mahasiswa or College Students can be said to be a unique community residing in the community, with the opportunities and advantages it has, the students are able to be slightly above the community. College Students also have not been exposed by the interests of a group, mass organizations, political parties, and so on. So that college students can be said (should) have idealism. Idealism is a truth that is believed to be purely personal and is not influenced by external factors that can shift the meaning of truth.
College Students with all the advantages and potential of course can not be equated with the people in terms of struggle and contribution to the nation. College Students are still classified as the idealists, where their beliefs and thoughts have not been influenced by political parties, mass organizations, and so forth. So the college students in my opinion right when it is said to have a position between the community and government.
Throughout history, college students in different parts of the world have taken an important role in the history of a country. For example, in Indonesia in May 1998, thousands of college students succeeded in forcing President Soeharto to withdraw from office.
Judging from the various potentials and opportunities owned by college students, it is not appropriate if the students are only concerned with their own needs without contributing to the nation and country. The student is not a student whose job is just learning, neither the people, nor the government. College Students have their own place in the community, but that does not mean separating themselves from the community. Therefore it needs to be formulated about the role and function of college students to determine the direction of the college student's struggle and contribution.
In a broad sense, college students have some important role in life. The first role, college students as an intellect, genius, and jelly must be able to run his life proportionately, as a student, child, and community expectations. Second, the college student as a person living on campus who is known to be free to express, act, discuss, speculate and give speech, must be able to show moral behavior in every action without being contaminated and affected by condition and environment. Because he alone with his ability can measure between good and bad actions, but always monitored and emulated by the community. Third, the college student as a person who brings change must always synergize, think critically and act concretely framed with willingness and sincerity to be a pioneer, conveyor of aspiration and public servant. College Students who in their life, can not provide examples and exemplary good and have left the mandate and responsibility as a scholar. If today's activities are oriented towards hedonism (hura-rah and pleasure), prefer to spend their spare time with routine dating agenda without knowing about the change in the country, and if today the student prefers the activities of music festivals and competitions (entertainment) By reason of creativity, rather than paying attention and improving the condition of the society and transferring its creativity to the more scientific and touching things of the people, such a student is a portrait of "lost generation" that is the generation who is lulled and forget about his duties and responsibilities as a youth and college student.
College students must cultivate deep social souls or in other words social solidarity. Solidarity is not limited by the bulkhead division of the group, but the universal social solidarity as a whole and can release arrogance and pride. college students can not see the suffering of others, can not see the poem of the people, can not see the existence of the oppressed and left alone. College students with a loving nature and unfortunately down and provide assistance both morally and materially for anyone who needs it. In the orde baru era where the people's critical power is in the stock, who's different thoughts with the government is directly stamped as a crime against the state. The New Order government did not hesitate to scorch every critical person and contrary to the government policy that strictly prohibits students from political activity. And this policy proved to be effective in stifling college student movements that keep college students busy with campus routine activities so that college students are imprisoned by the existing system.
College students are dynamic educated people full of creativity. College students are an inseparable part of the people. Now let's ask ourselves who holds the college student label, how far we have taken a role in ourselves and the environment.
College Students as Guardian of Value means that college students act as guardians of values in society. Then now the question is, "What kind of values should be maintained?" To answer that question we must see the college student as an academic who always thinks scientifically in searching for the truth. We must start from it because if we reflect again the nature of values that must be maintained must be absolute truth so that students are required to guard it.
Little is clear, that the value to be guarded is something that is absolutely true, and there is no doubt in it. That value is clearly not the result of pragmatism, it must be derived from a perfect and all-knowing Essence.
In addition to the above values, there is still one more value that meets the criteria as the value that must be maintained by the students, the value is the values of scientific truth. Though indeed the scientific truth is a representation of the greatness and the excellence of God, as the Essence of the Knower. We as college students must be able to find various truths based on the scientific character that comes from the sciences that we get and then we must apply and keep in the community.
The idea of Guardian of Value that developed so far is only as a guardian of existing values before, or maintain good values such as honesty, alertness, and so forth. It is not wrong, but is it as simple as the value that the student must take care of? So what is the relationship of these values with the nature of science that should be owned by college students? Therefore I am of the opinion that the Guardian of Value is the transmitter, and the guardian of absolute truth values where the values are derived based on the character of the knowledge that the student himself possesses. The character of science itself is always looking for scientific.
Explanation of Guardian of Value only as a guardian of values that already exist also has a weakness that whenever a shift in value, and values that have been shifted already become a perimeter of good in society, then we will be difficult in looking at the meaning of the truth value itself.
College Student as Agent of Change means college student as agent of change. Then now the problem re-emerged, "Why should there be a change?". When we are silently unconsciously we have contributed to make changes, but of course the changes that occur will be different from the ideology that we profess and we think is right.
College Students are the group that must be the front guard in making changes because the college students are the "exclusive", only 5% of the youth who can hold the status of college students, and from that number can also be calculated how many more percent want to study about the roles of college students in This nation and country. These conscious college students should not just get off their hands. They should not let this nation make a change in the wrong direction. It is they, who should make those changes.
Change itself can actually be seen from two views. The first view holds that the social order of life is strongly influenced by materialistic things such as technology, for example the windmill will create feudal society, industrial machinery will create capitalist society, the internet will create create an informative society, and so on. The next view holds that ideology or value as a factor affecting change. As a college student it seems that we should be able to accommodate these two views for the sake of expected change. It's all because we have more potential to realize those things.
It is clear why the change needs to be done and why the students should be the front guard in the change, then in making the changes must be made method that is not in a hurry, starting from the smallest scope of oneself, then spread until finally to the room The scope we expect, this nation.
Based on the college duties expressed by Muhammad Hatta is to form a moral and democratic people who has the realization of responsibility for the welfare of the community, capable and independent in maintaining and advancing science, and competent to hold office or work in the community
Based on the thought of Muhammad Hatta, we can simplify that the task of universities is to form academic people, which in turn will become a function for the college students themselves. The academic man himself has two characteristics: having a sense of crisis, and always developing himself.
Academic people must have a sense of crisis that is sensitive and critical to the problems that occur in the vicinity today. This will grow by itself when the college student follows the nature of science, always seeking scientific justification. By following the nature of the science, college students are expected to understand the various problems that occur and moreover find the right solutions to solve them. Academic people must always develop themselves so that they can be a generation that is responsive and able to face the challenges of the future.
In the case of academic people as people who always follow the nature of science, it also relates to the role of students as a guardian of values, where students should seek the values of truth itself, then forward it to the community, and the most important is to maintain the value of the truth.
So, if we summarize it all, then the college student is a component of society that is very important and can not be separated from a country or a nation whose function is to become future generations of nation and agents of change in the system of society order.
We as college students of management must hold firm to the principle of the nation strongly so that we can become future generations of the nation and become a component of state support in various aspects of a state in everyday life.
